Nankhatai (Without Oven)

Ingredients:

Besan or Gram flour - 1/2 cup

Maida or All purpose flour - 1/2 cup

Ghee or Clarified butter - 1/2 cup

Powdered Sugar - 1/2 cup

Cardamom powder of Elaichi powder - 1/4 tspn

Chironji or Charoli or any nuts of your choice - 1 tspn

Method:

  1. Take an aluminium vessel and place a ring or a stand inside it and cover and keep on high flame.

  2. In a bowl take ghee and powdered sugar and whisk it well till the colour changes slightly.

  3. Add cardamom powder and besan and maida and knead into one dough.

  4. Add 1 to 2 tspn of melted ghee if needed to make a proper dough.

  5. Make balls out of the dough and flatten them to give a nankhatai shape.

  6. Place chironji in center and press gently.

  7. In a cake tin or pressure cooker tin apply little ghee and place all the nankhatais.

  8. Keep the tin in big vessel and reduce the flame to sim.

  9. Bake for 15-20 mins.

  10. Cool and serve.
