Whole Wheat Flour Shankarpali

Ingredients:

Whole wheat flour - 3 cups

Besan or gram flour - 1/2 cup

Jaggery - 1 1/4 cup

Ghee - 1/4 cup + 2 tspn

Salt - a pinch

Oil for deep frying

Method:

​

  1. Heat a pan and add 1/2 cup of water.

  2. Add jaggery to it and mix well till it dissolves.

  3. Add a pinch of salt.

  4. Add ghee and mix well for some time.

  5. Switch off the flame and let the mixture cool completely.

  6. Take wheat flour and besan in a big bowl. 

  7. Add the jaggery ghee solution and knead a stiff dough.

  8. Keep the dough aside for 1 hour.

  9. Keep the oil for heating.

  10. Meanwhile, take a small portion of dough and start rolling it into a chapati. It should be neither too thick nor too thin.

  11. Cut out squares out of it using knife or shankarpali cutter.

  12. Deep fry till crisp.
